The May issue of Guitar Player magazine recently featured a guitar “shootout” that included 35 guitars with a “street price” of under $500. Featured in the pack was our Hamer XT series Sunburst Archtop Quilt top model (SATQ). Out of the 35 guitars submitted, only 8 were good enough to receive their “Editor’s Pick” award. Judged on eight categories with a one to five rating, the Hamer Sunburst Quilt Top scored a perfect “5” in the workmanship, playability, vibe and value categories.

Here were some of the comments made by the judges. “Looks great, plays great, and all the tones are incredibly three dimensional,” Matt Blackett. “Inspiring to play, versatile tones, great intonation, great overall feel.” Barry Cleveland. “Instant vibe, plays perfect, an amazing guitar.” Darrin Fox. “It’s a monster! Longtime endorser Joel Shearer has played Hamer guitars for over ten years and has been seen on stage with such artists as Alanis Morissette, Ben Taylor, P.O.D. Our Lady Peace, and Bob Rock. He is now started his own project, fronting his own band called Pedestrian.
